ENVELOPE ADHESIVES THAT RUN CLEAN AND KEEP MAILPIECES SEALED

When envelope glue fails, it shows up everywhere. Blocking gums wreck your finish. Curling patches pull windows out of spec. And when glue splashes or strings, operators waste time wiping machines and fixing jams instead of running the line.

Capital helps you run clean, fast, and without glue-related issues getting in the way.

Our envelope adhesives are built for production precision. They dry quickly, seal evenly, and stay stable through the gumbox. Every batch is lab-tested for viscosity, wet tack, and flow so you get the same smooth run every time. Whether you’re running side seam, diagonal, or window patch, you can count on a clean seal that holds up through the mailstream.

If your current glue is slowing you down or causing rejects, it’s time to switch.

COMMON ENVELOPE ADHESIVE ISSUES

FORMULATED TO REMEDY ANY ADHESIVE ISSUE

Envelope converters run fast, and there’s no margin for glue that slows you down. From blocking gums to patch skew, we help prevent the most common adhesive issues before they hit the line, so your crew stays focused, and your product stays on spec.

Blocking

Envelopes stick together when front gums don’t fully cure. Our fast-drying formulas activate only during sealing, not during stacking or handling.

Skewing

Windows shift out of alignment when the patch doesn’t bond on contact. Our adhesives grab fast and hold tight so everything stays straight at speed.

Splashing

Glue ends up where it shouldn’t—on rollers, belts, and product. We control viscosity every batch to keep glue stable, clean, and right where it’s applied.

COMMON ENVELOPE ADHESIVE TYPES ADHESIVES FOR YOUR ENTIRE ENVELOPE LINE

From front gums to window patching, our envelope adhesives are built to run clean, dry fast, and perform through the mailstream. Each type is matched to your line conditions so production stays smooth and your product stays in spec.

Front Gum (Remoist)

Resin, Residex, and hot melt formulas that apply clean, dry fast, and activate only during sealing to prevent blocking in trays or during stacking.

Front Gum (Self Seal)

Natural rubber latex that forms an instant cohesive bond when pressed. Prevents curl, misalignment, and operator frustration on high-speed flap sealers.

Front Gum (Peel & Stick)

Hot melt or water-based pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) that stay tacky in storage and bond reliably on contact. Ideal for long shelf life and fast, liner-backed sealing.

Back Gum (Side Seam)

Resin-based formulas flow evenly and cure quickly for secure side seams that hold up under high-speed converting and mailing.

Back Gum (Diagonal Seam)

Residex chemistries that set fast, lay flat, and reduce curl. Keeps folds tight and clean through printing, folding, and inserting.

Window (Patch)

High tack formulas that hold window film securely with no shift, bleed, or curl. Machined for clean application and steady placement at speed.

Common Envelope Styles

ADHESIVES BUILT FOR EVERY ENVELOPE STYLE

No matter the style, our adhesives are tested to perform cleanly and consistently across all major envelope formats. Whether you’re sealing pointed flaps or securing full-face windows, we help keep your lines running and your mailpieces compliant, flat, and finished right.

ADHESIVES BUILT FOR EVERY ENVELOPE STYLE

A-Style

Strong bonds and fast cure times keep pointed flaps sealed cleanly without curl, even on high-speed equipment or during tight nesting in mail trays.

Baronial

Our adhesives grip securely across heavy flaps and decorative stocks. You get clean edges, no bleeding, and a finished product that holds up in transit.

Square

Wide flap coverage and clean cutoff prevent stringing or excess glue. Formulas are built to cure evenly across flat surfaces for consistent lay-flat performance.

Commercial

Reliable sealing at scale. Whether side seam or diagonal, our adhesives run fast and resist curl to support inserting, printing, and high-volume processing.

Catalog

Extra surface area requires extra hold. Our adhesives deliver strong bonds across large flaps without bleed-through, blocking, or mess in the gumbox.

FAQS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your questions matter. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions about envelope adhesives.

Have more questions?
Get in Touch

Can you match or improve my current adhesive?

Yes. We can break down your current adhesive in our lab and recommend a matching or better-performing option based on your substrates, line speed, and equipment.

Do you have a window patch product that doesn’t dry up in the gumbox?

Yes. Our patch adhesives are built to stay stable in the gumbox and maintain clean flow through longer runs without drying out or clogging.

Do you have a front gum that is a light color?

Yes. We offer clear and light amber options so operators can see coverage during application without it showing through the finished envelope.

Do you have a front gum that is resistant to curling?

Yes. Our formulas are tuned for open time and drying speed to prevent flap curl and keep product flat through mailing and inserting.

What is the shelf life of your envelope adhesives?

Water-based products typically last 6 months. Latex adhesives have a 3-month shelf life. Hot melts last 2 years from the date of sale when stored properly.

Can you add UV or color to a product?

Yes. Most of our envelope adhesives already include UV for detection. We can also add color for visibility during production.

What size of containers can I order?

Water-based adhesives are available in 5-gallon pails, 30-gallon drums, 55-gallon drums, 275-gallon totes, or 40,000-pound bulk tankers.

What is your standard sample size?

We send 5-gallon samples at no cost so you can run a true test before switching. Every sample is backed by lab support.

How fast can we get product?

Most envelope adhesives ship the next day. We keep proven formulas stocked and ready so you don’t lose time waiting on glue.

Can you support us during trial and startup?

Yes. We send the sample, help with the trial, and support your team until performance is fully dialed in on your equipment.
